Dear friend,Dolores

After several months struggling with cancer, my very dear friend, ministry partner and previously Love UnVeiled Board member, went to be with Jesus.

The day before the Lord took her I read this verse; “As for me I will see Your face in righteousness, I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness” Psalm 17:15.

Today I know that Dolores is fully satisfied.  All the longings of her heart have been fulfilled in the precious Presence of her Savior and Friend.

Dolores was the friend who could be described as sticking closer than a brother.  She had Jesus’ heart. Though she struggled, like we all do, she had such an intimate relationship with Him. Her conversations with Him often made me laugh. She was completely honest and talked with Him confidently knowing He was with her always, in her great, good, bad and ugly times.

Dolores had a passion for missions. When I first met her, seventeen years ago her home was full of young women staying with her; missionaries and women in transit with no other home. Little did I know I would become one of those women.  She taught me how to be a friend. She came after me when I wanted to hide. She took me in when I had nowhere else to go. When I wanted to isolate myself, she wouldn’t let go, her phone calls were insistent. She was a “safe” place. A place you could share your heart without judgment, and receive in return compassion and encouragement.  She was a woman aware of her own weaknesses, but with the heart of Jesus.

Dolores was a Spirit filled woman who walked daily in the Lord’s leading. She walked the Love UnVeiled journey with me as the Lord began giving me vision eight years ago.

In those early days she was one of my greatest supporters and encouragers when I was waiting on the Lord out of work, with no job and no income. Sometimes I would ask her if I should be looking for work, but she would encourage me to wait, God was going to do something bigger that required my full attention. She of course was right! Her trust in the Lord and in me, encouraged me to hold to the vision. I’m so glad I did.

Through her battle with cancer for the last last 8-9 years, she has been a woman of great faith and perseverance.  After several intense cancer treatments, and two knee operations, she was still able to come to India and Thailand with me, and continued ministry in Israel up until last year. Her illness didn’t stop her traveling. And praise God she did not, for what a blessing she was to so many women in India, and to so many in Israel.

I read this description from a man describing his godly wife; “She had the strength of a lion, the tenacity of a hound dog and the gentleness of a lamb.”

This is my friend Dolores. We remember her today with thanksgiving for her wisdom and ministry support in Love UnVeiled; for her godly example of life in the Spirit and her walk with Jesus through the rough and the smooth; for her great heart for missions, and for her sweet, loyal, tenacious friendship to the very end.  She fought the good fight and has experienced the victory over death.  Today we rejoice she is dancing with Jesus, sitting at His feet, worshiping and being exactly where she has longed to be.

Please pray for Dolores’ family, Will, Lynda and Rob, and her grandchildren and son and daughter in law who were all so close to Dolores. They are so glad she is with Jesus, but she will be missed by them and all of us who cherished her.
